How Far We've Come

August 6, 2017

We walked into an arcade for the first time before the age of 10.  We played our first videogame at home on an Atari 2600.  Our first computer was a Commodore 64 so we could play Oregon Trail.  We wanted the Power Glove because it was so badass and we fought the kids who said Nintendon’t.  We read Choose Your Own Adventure books, typed our moves in Zork and reached RPG nirvana as The Nameless One.  We played Wolfenstein on MS-DOS and built our first gaming PC with 3Dfx Voodoo cards so we could play Unreal Tournament on max settings.  We went from placing a quarter on the control panel of Street Fighter II to saving up our allowances to buy a SNES - thrilled to throw fireballs at friends in the comfort of our living rooms.  We had our parents watch the boot-up screen of Playstation and spent weekend nights playing Final Fantasy VII with an audience.  We’ve played Madden every single year since 1994. We know the value of trash talk and how to fix broken controllers.  We imported a Sega Dreamcast to be the first to play Soul Calibur and fell in love with a new type of RPG with Shenmue. Then Halo arrived and a new console war began. Meanwhile, we made international friends playing World of Warcraft. Even today, after all these years, we anxiously await the newest incarnation of Super Mario Bros.

For nearly 40 years I have been a part of videogame culture.  As a customer, creator, spokesperson, fan, streamer, and most importantly as a member of the community, I can’t wait to show you what’s next for Las Vegas and the world of gaming.
